Living Social Photography Class Experiment

February 19, 2013 | Photography

So for Christmas my AWESOME husband bought me a super cool camera which I had been desperately wanting

It’s a Nikon D3200 found here on Amazon (he bought mine at Costco which also has amazing deals on cameras)

I decided to buy a Living Social photography class (my first photography class) and went to it this weekend!

It was interesting… I learned some stuff BUT I also felt like the teacher could have put a little more into the class (it ended a lot earlier than it was supposed to)

We learned about

1.  Shutter speed

2.  Aperture (F stop)

3.  White Balance

4.  ISO

Below is me experimenting with a fast shutter speed to capture the water looking frozen (rather than in motion)

Or in motion (slower shutter speed)

We also got a handout on composition

1. Framing

2.  Symmetry

3.  Lines

4.  Rule of Thirds (person/thing taking up 1/3 of the photo)

Here’s my symmetry

All in all I definitely learned some things but felt that the teacher was a little hands off about teaching- also when I asked questions to her one on one she didn’t answer them very well-

I do love photography so I’m still trying to get better and there are a ton of articles online that tell you basically everything~
